About Prowind

Johannes Busmann is founder and managing director of Prowind GmbH — a man with a clear stance, regional roots and a deep understanding of sustainable energy. Long before he founded the company in 2000, Busmann explored alternative energy sources on his parents' farm — and built his first own wind turbine there. With the successful completion of his law degree, he founded Prowind to actively shape the energy revolution.

What began as a conviction became a life project: Busmann is now regarded as a pioneer of decentralized energy supply in Germany. His goal is to generate energy where it is needed — efficiently, climate-friendly and in close cooperation with the region. Today, Prowind develops wind and solar projects professionally and with great sensitivity — together with communities, farmers and residents. Because: “If you treat people fairly, you will find good solutions,” is Busmann's guiding principle. Under his leadership, the small Osnabrück-based company has become an internationally active group with around 80 companies and hundreds of megawatts of installed capacity. Busmann places particular value on regionality and citizen participation: With crowdfunding projects such as in Bad Bentheim or the first community wind farm in Canada, Prowind shows that economic success and citizen-oriented energy transition are not contradictory. Busmann thinks ahead. In addition to wind power, he uses a clever mix of different renewable sources — for industry, commerce and district solutions. His wish: to be able to provide wind power directly to companies in Osnabrück.
